Make a Mini Mocha Kittychino at Home | Rad Cat Coffee Co.

All you cool cats and kittens deserve a rad coffee recipe you can make right home especially when you are havin’ a Garfield type of day. This is an easy and delicious sudo-espresso recipe you can make without an espresso machine and it tastes just as Cat-tacular! Meeee-ow!

The materials I used instead of an espresso machine:

- A French Press to make the sudo-espresso ($9.99 at TJ Maxx) I say sudo-espresso because espresso needs pressure and this is made without actual pressure from a machine or appliance. With Rad Cat Meow-Valous Espresso it tastes pretty darn delicious and just like espresso machine quality espresso even in a French Press. And it is SO smooth! Smoother than freshly brushed cat fur! ;)

- A grinder ($19.96 at Wal-mart) - You don’t necessarily need a grinder. You can order your Rad Cat Coffee pre-ground for espresso specifically.

- A jar with the lid to create the foamed milk (Mine was $3 at TJ Maxx)
- I also used the cute kitty cup that is actually a succulent holder. It was too dang cute not use for this Kittychino! ($3.99 at Five Below)

First things first - that deliciously smooth espresso! One of the major perks of Rad Cat Coffee is how smooth it is! No bitterness here! The Meow-Valous Espresso specifically makes the perfect espresso for any coffee beverage and even just to sip on its own. The notes of chocolate and caramel make it perfect for an iced latte or a foamy Kittychino! This espresso might even be the human equivalent to cat nip! Get yours and comment below if you agree.

Espresso in a French Press

You will need four tablespoons of espresso ground Rad Cat Coffeee Meow-Valous Espresso and one cup of close to boiling hot water. If you use your own grinder, grind the coffee until the grains are really fine. Put all four tablespoons in the bottom of the French Press.

Boil water in a sauce pan or use a kettle or tea pot. I used a sauce pan. Add 1/4 cup of the hot water to the espresso grounds in the French Press. Stir it up and let it sit for 30 seconds or so. This will help cut down on bitterness as well. Then, add 3/4 cup of hot water to the French Press and put the lid on it. Let it brew for three minutes and then use the french press to strain the espresso into a cup. 1/4 a cup of the espresso makes about one shot of espresso. I added some of the hot espresso directly to my tiny kitty cup and added one square of chocolate so it would melt. I stirred it really well so the chocolate dissolved and mixed with the espresso. The particular chocolate that I used had nuts so mine was a little chunky. You can use any type of chocolate you like though. Dark chocolate makes for less sweet kittychinos and milk chocolate makes for a sweeter drink. Use as much chocolate as your heart desires! I only used one square of dark chocolate because I don’t like super sweet coffee drinks but it is all up to preference.

Foamed Milk in a jar
If you want a mini kittychino like I made you only need about a cup of milk in your jar. If you want more of a full-sized kittychino add enough milk to fill your cup just make sure the jar is big enough to be half empty so it doesn’t spill over once the milk foams. Put the milk in the jar and put the lid on. Shake the milk really well for a good minute or two. Then remove the lid from the jar and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. The foam from shaking the milk will hold for longer after it has been microwaved.

The Mini Mocha Kittychino

The next part is easy! Pour some of the milk into your espresso-chocolate mixture. Don’t forget to save some room for the foam! Use a spoon to scoop the good foam off the top of the milk in the jar and spoon it directly onto the top of your kittychino.

I used a toothpick and some chocolate syrup to draw a kitty face in the foam on my kittychino.

I also drew lines with chocolate syrup and ran the toothpick through it to create the marble look. This drink is a great way to impress your friends while you are knitting your cat a sweater!
